Nigeria Set to Host 6th Session of Nigeria-United States Bi-National Commission (BNC).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria has announced that Nigeria will host the 6th session of the Nigeria-United States Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Abuja from April 29th to 30th, 2024.

Established in 2010, the Nigeria-US BNC serves as a pivotal platform for high-level discussions on issues of mutual interests, with a focus on enhancing cooperation on shared priorities.

According to a release signed by Francisca K. Omayuli (Mrs), Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, the BNC comprises various working groups covering a wide range of areas of cooperation between the two countries. These include Shared Prosperity, Security Cooperation, Democracy, Governance and Accountability, Movement of People, and Partnership, involving global issues, multilateral reforms, and health.

The 6th session of the BNC will be Co-chaired by the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf M. Tuggar (OON) on the Nigerian side, and the Deputy Secretary of State, H.E. Kurt Campbell, representing the United States.

Top government officials from both sides, experts, diplomats, policy makers, private sector representatives, and civil society organizations are expected to participate in the event.

Held alternately in the capitals of the two countries, the upcoming session presents an opportunity for both nations to leverage strategic engagement to address mutual challenges and pursue common goals.
