Rwandan Foreign Affairs Minister, Nduhungirehe Arrives Pakistan on Official Visit.

Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe arrived in Islamabad on Sunday, 20th April, 2025 on an official visit. At the airport he was received by DG Africa Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rwandan High Commissioner in Pakistan and other senior officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan.
In January 2025, Rwanda and Pakistan signed an MoU on Bilateral Political Consultations, establishing a framework for regular consultations on political, economic, and other areas of mutual interest. This agreement aims to deepen their partnership and explore new opportunities for mutual growth.
Pakistan opened its diplomatic mission in Kigali in 2021, demonstrating its commitment to expanding ties with African nations. Rwanda has also established a High Commission in Islamabad, marking a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral relations.
Recent visits by Rwandan officials, including the President of the Senate and the Chief of Defence Staff, to Pakistan have further strengthened bilateral relations. These visits have discussed shared security challenges, military training, and defence partnerships, with broader implications for trade and development cooperation.

Bilateral trade between Rwanda and Pakistan has grown, with trade volume increasing from $34 million to over $70 million. Pakistan imports over 60% of Rwanda’s tea production, and both countries are exploring new markets for products like coffee, beans, lentils, and pulses.
Pakistan and Rwanda have pledged to enhance economic cooperation, trade, investment, and cultural exchanges. Pakistani entrepreneurs are encouraged to explore investment opportunities in Rwanda, particularly in sectors like textiles, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.
