New ECOWAS Commissioner For Economic Affairs And Agriculture Emerges.

The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, has welcomed Dr. Kalilou Sylla at the ECOWAS Commission as Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture, after being sworn in at an official ceremony presided over by the President of the Community Court of Justice, Honorable Judge Ricardo Cláudio Monteiro Gonçalves.

Dr Sylla has held several senior positions in his country Ivory Coast, most recently as Director General of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. His expertise covers the areas of economic and monetary policy, integration programs and projects, strategic planning, agricultural policy and development project management, marketing and analysis of agricultural value chains, and coordination of research and economic analysis.

Dr. Sylla also specializes in project financing in the fields of agriculture, industry, and trade in the public and private sectors, as well as Civil Society at both the national and regional levels.
He is also knowledgeable on issues of economic integration and governance, with scientific publications on regional integration, and economics.

According to a statement by the ECOWAS Commission on Thursday, Dr Sylla who succeeds Ms. Massandjé Touré-Litsé, was sworn in in the presence of the members of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers meeting in extraordinary session the same day.

He is to serve until July 2026
