Peace Mass Transit Redefines Road Travel, Unveils “Peace Extra Comfort” Service For Yuletide Season.
By Ahmed Musa
As the Yuletide season approaches, a period traditionally marked by heavy travel and road congestion—Peace Mass Transit (PMT) has taken a bold step to redefine the inter-state travel experience in Nigeria. The company has rolled out over 3,000 brand-new luxury buses under its new premium service line, Peace Extra Comfort (PEC), to make travel safer, smoother, and more rewarding for passengers and drivers alike.
The official launch, held at the One Percent International Management Services Conference Hall, Guzape, Asokoro, Abuja, drew stakeholders from across the transport sector, representatives of cooperative societies, and financial partners. Observers described the event as a landmark move toward modernizing Nigeria’s road transport system through innovation, empowerment, and safety.
In a country where over 90 percent of goods and passengers are moved by road, transportation costs remain a major burden. According to the World Bank, such expenses in Nigeria account for between 30 and 50 percent of the total value of goods—one of the highest rates in Sub-Saharan Africa. This challenge, coupled with inadequate infrastructure, has long limited growth in the sector.
Determined to change the narrative, Peace Mass Transit—through a partnership with Grassroots Cooperative and One Percent International Management Services—has introduced an integrated approach that combines modern transport technology, financial inclusion, and grassroots empowerment.
Founded more than three decades ago by Dr. Samuel Maduka Onyishi and Dr. (Mrs.) Ifenyinwa Emilia Onyishi, PMT has evolved from a one-bus operation into one of Nigeria’s most trusted and far-reaching transport brands. The company continues to uphold its core values of integrity, innovation, and commitment to customer satisfaction.
Speaking at the unveiling, Dr. (Mrs.) Chinedu Onyishi David, Managing Director/CEO of Peace Micro-Finance Bank, said the Peace Extra Comfort (PEC) initiative ushers in a new era for road travel in Nigeria.
“This initiative guarantees passengers stress-free, reliable, and comfortable travel during this festive season and beyond,” she assured.
Each Peace Extra Comfort bus comes equipped with full air-conditioning, ergonomic seating, in-bus charging ports, and advanced safety systems. Drivers—referred to as “captains”—are trained professionals dedicated to ensuring passenger comfort and safety on every trip.
What makes PEC particularly remarkable is its driver empowerment model. Through the Grassroots Cooperative, these captains will be able to own their buses over time, supported by financing from Peace Microfinance Bank. The model not only strengthens driver commitment but also fosters financial inclusion and economic independence at the grassroots level.
“Funding the cooperative through Peace Microfinance Bank continues our legacy of empowering individuals and SMEs through asset-backed financial solutions,” Dr. Onyishi explained.
“This initiative not only enhances comfort and safety but also secures livelihoods for hundreds of Nigerians.”
Also speaking, Amb. Stephanie Nnadi, Founder and CEO of One Percent International Management Services, hailed the partnership as “a model of private sector-driven innovation that aligns with Nigeria’s infrastructure renewal goals.” She described the PEC service as a premium, affordable, and empowering way for Nigerians to travel with dignity and peace of mind.
Reaffirming the company’s commitment to excellence, Mr. Uche Nwoko, General Manager of Peace Mass Portfolio and investment management, assured passengers of “the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and customer care” across all PMT routes nationwide.
The Peace Extra Comfort buses are now available for booking at all PMT terminals across Nigeria. The company says the new service line offers travelers a truly peaceful experience—combining affordability, comfort, and safety in one package.
“Every mile with Peace Extra Comfort feels like peace of mind,” Nwoko concluded with a smile.
