The Progressive Youths for Greater Nigeria, PYGN, has expressed confidence in the present administration, noting significant achievements so far.
Speaking at a Media parley in Abuja on Tuesday with the PYGN, the National Cordinator of PYGN, Comrade Awojobi Adeniyi, urged Nigerian youths to appreciate the development being done across the country so far, and lend their support to President Bola Tinubu.
“We have come here to appreciate and to acknowledge his hard work, that of the DG, Dr. Tanko Yakasai, for his good work towards achieving success come 2027 election.
“Basically the main thing we are after, which is the main reason why we are here, is, we are after achieving success come 2027, and we are sure that success we shall get.
He therefore urged the youth in the political terrain to support the present administration in its bid.
On his part, the Director General, Tinubu Support Group, Dr Umar Tanko Yakassi, underscored the importance of investing at the grassroots, and also ensuring that students whose Parents cannot afford their school fees can have access to loan through the Students Loan Scheme.
Dr Yakasai who was given the award of Grand Patron of the Tinubu Support Group, further stated that the establishment of Development Commissions is to ensure equity and that all regions of the country is developed.
“Local governments have autonomy to receive their resources, invest their resources in their local government rather than the state capital, ensure that students whose parents cannot pay their school fees now have access to loan, what they call Nel-Fund.
“Before, we had only two regional Commissions; the Niger Delta Development Commission, and the North East Development Commission, but because he believes in equity, now all the regions in Nigeria have Development Commissions; the Northwest Development Commission, North Central Development Commission, Southeast Development Commission, Southwest Development Commission, including the South South that already had Niger Delta Development Commission, now with South South Development Commission.
Dr Yakasai emphasised that the essence of these Commissions are to take development to the grassroots.
“Federal government through the Federal Ministry will spend money equitably, equally across the country, and equality does not ensure that development that is like in one sector can be achieved within a certain possible time because you have to give equal resources to Kano, and Lagos to be fair, but if Kano in education is lagging behind, Lagos has gone far ahead of Kano, and you give Lagos 10 Naira, you give Kano 10 Naira, how many years will it take Kano to catch up with Lagos in terms of education? But that can be solved through Development Commission.
“If the Southwest feel that the area of development need is not in education, they don’t have to spend money in education. If Kano feels that the places where they should spend money is in education, they will spend all the money in education and catch up with Lagos, catch up with Anambara”, he said.
Highlight of the event was award presentation to recipients who have contributed positively to the movement.
The event was graced by dignitaries, States Coordinators from across the country, supporters of President Bola Tinubu who showed commitment and solidarity with the presence administration.
