The ECOWAS Commission has allocated $719,733 in humanitarian aid to support vulnerable populations in Togo.
The Commission said this aid included refugees, displaced persons, and host communities, noting that the aid presented on January 26, 2026, aligns with ECOWAS’ Vision 2050 and commitment to regional solidarity.
The ceremony, attended by the ECOWAS Resident Representative in Togo, Ms Deweh Emily, and Togolese officials, highlighted the organization’s dedication to humanitarian action.
The aid is being implemented with support from the World Food Programme, and coordinated by Togo’s National Civil Protection Agency, (ANPC), under the Ministry of Security.

According to the Commission, this timely intervention aims to address pressing humanitarian needs in Togo, demonstrating ECOWAS’ commitment to protecting and empowering vulnerable communities across West Africa.
The aid will support refugees, internally displaced persons, asylum seekers, returnees, and host communities, by providing vital assistance in areas such as food security and protection.
Meanwhile, ECOWAS officials therefore emphasised the importance of regional cooperation and solidarity in addressing humanitarian challenges, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to supporting member States in need.
The aid package is part of ECOWAS’ broader efforts to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in West Africa.
