ECOWAS Set To Further Advance Economic Integration In West Africa

The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, has presented initiatives aimed at deepening regional integration, strengthening the ECOWAS common market, promoting investment, improving food and nutrition security, facilitating the safe movement of people and goods, and supporting environmental sustainability across Member States.The joint launch of a series of the initiatives was led by the ECOWAS Department of Economic Affairs and Agriculture chaired by Commissioner Kalilou Sylla, to strengthen economic integration in West Africa.Meanwhile, ECOWAS Technical Directors addressed the Press in Abidjan, côte d’ivoire ahead of the launch of a series of regional initiatives to advance economic integration in West Africa.According to a statement by the the ECOWAS Commission, these efforts are aligned with the ECOWAS Vision 2050 and the broader objectives of the African Union’s Agenda 2063.Several Technical Directors addressed the Press during the meeting, they include the Director of Free Movement, Mr Albert Siaw-Boateng, the Director of Trade, Mr Kolawole Sofola, the Executive Director of the Regional Competition Authority, Mr Siméon Koffi, the Executive Director of the Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food, Mr Kanfitin Konlani, the Acting Director of Private Sector and Industry, Mr Peter Oluonye, the Acting Director of Customs, Mr Darlingston Talery, and the Acting Director of Environment, Mr Bernard Yao Koffi.
