The Federal Marriage Registry, Ikoyi-Lagos, Nigeria stood still for hours on Friday, 22nd July, 2022 as Andrea Maier, a German trained Nurse wedded her heartthrob, Olugbenga Meyungbe in a grand marriage ceremony.  Officiating at the event, the Marriage Registrar, Mr. Paulinus Okolocha administered the oath of fidelity to both bride and the bridegroom stressing the need for the couple to love themselves as none of them can get married to any other persons without running foul of the law.

Handing over the Marriage Certificate to the couple, Okolocha admonished family members and other dignitaries not to meddle in the affairs of the couple but to pray and support them.

Those who graced the occasion included Prof. Femi Olufunmilade Mayungbe who represented the Meyungbe family, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Diplomatic Digest, Kennedy Ikantu Peretei and his wife Olukemi, brothers of the bridegroom, Olutayo and Oluyemi Meyungbe and their wives all attended. The colourful ceremony which attracted traditional drummers and dancers from Ilu-merin (the ancestral home of the Meyungbes) in Ijebu North East Local Government of Ogun State turned the solemn event to a carnival.

Speaking at the Reception for guests in honour of the couple, Mrs Andrea Meyungbe expressed her joy to be admitted into the Meyunmgbe family. In spite of travel advice against travelling to Nigeria at this time and other hiccups, it was a great moment for her to travel almost 6,328 miles from Stuttgart, Germany to be united with Olugbenga, a man she described as lovable and down to earth.

There was plenty to eat and drink as guests took turns to appreciate both husband and wife. Olugbenga, while giving the vote of thanks thanked everybody for their contribution to making the event such a huge success
