In a bid to enhance bilateral relations and streamline visa processes, the Angolan Embassy has inaugurated a visa collection center in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. This move is part of the embassy’s commitment to fostering closer economic and diplomatic ties between Angola and Nigeria.

Dr. Jose Zan, Angolan Ambassador to Nigeria, highlighted the significance of the center during its unveiling on Tuesday. He emphasized the challenges faced by citizens of both countries in obtaining Angolan visas, particularly in regions outside of major urban centers like Lagos and Abuja.

“The opening of this center is a milestone in our efforts to improve travel experiences for Angolan and Nigerian communities,” Ambassador Zan stated. “By providing a convenient location for visa procurement, we aim to reduce the inconvenience and expenses associated with traveling to distant cities for this purpose.”

The center, strategically located in Port Harcourt, is expected to cater to the needs of the Angolan community residing in the South South and South Eastern regions of Nigeria. This initiative is welcomed by many who have previously encountered difficulties in securing visas, often resulting in missed business opportunities and additional expenses.

Mr. Onyemaechi Ejindu, CEO of Akwahelms Ltd and a partner in the center, underscored the importance of this development for travelers and businesses alike. He highlighted the potential for increased connectivity between Nigeria and Angola, which could further stimulate economic activities and trade relations.

“With the establishment of this center, we aim to facilitate smoother travel experiences and strengthen economic partnerships between our two countries,” Ejindu explained.

“Both Nigeria and Angola possess abundant natural resources, and by leveraging our similarities, we can explore new opportunities for collaboration and mutual benefit,” he added.

The opening of the visa collection center signifies a step forward in the efforts to bolster ties between Angola and Nigeria, paving the way for increased cooperation and prosperity in the region.

As travelers and businesses welcome this initiative, hopes are high for a more seamless and efficient visa application process in the future.
