Chinese Ambassador To Ghana Pays Farewell Visit To Foreign Affairs Minister.

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Ghana, His Excellency Tong Defa called on the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) on Friday, 16th January, 2026 to bid him farewell as he completes his tour of duty in Ghana.

Honourable Ablakwa in his interaction with the Ambassador reiterated the historic and cordial relations between Ghana and China and commended His Excellency Tong Defa for his significant contributions towards strengthening bilateral cooperation between Ghana and China. He noted that the Ambassador’s tenure marked several bilateral and multilateral cooperations for the benefits of both countries. The Honourable Minister also highlighted China’s longstanding support to Ghana’s development efforts in the areas of education, infrastructure, health, agriculture and trade, green energy transition, among others.

In his response, His Excellency Tong Defa expressed appreciation to the Government and People of Ghana for the warm hospitality and cooperation extended to him throughout his tenure. He noted that Ghana and China share common values and aspirations and reiterated China’s readiness to deepen the cooperation between the two countries bilateral and multilateral levels.
