The Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has extended his congratulations to Amb. Mohammed Mohammed on his recent appointment as Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). Yakub praised President Bola Tinubu for selecting a highly qualified individual for the role, emphasizing that Mohammed’s appointment is a fitting choice given his extensive experience and distinguished career in diplomacy.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Mr. Nkem Anyata-Lafia, Special Assistant to the DG on Media and Publicity, highlighted Yakub’s commendation of Mohammed’s career, which spans over three decades and includes significant roles within the NTAC. Mohammed previously served as both Acting Director General and Director of Programmes at NTAC, as well as in various international postings, including Islamabad, Pakistan, and Tripoli, Libya.

Yakub’s congratulatory letter, issued on Tuesday, described Mohammed’s appointment as a testament to his exceptional skills and service to Nigeria. The letter, which was shared with media outlets in Abuja, read:

“Indeed, this new feather to your cap is a resounding testimony to your famed capacity and experience as an outstanding Diplomat, Careerist, top Civil Servant and, above all, a Distinguished Nigerian. Your years of service, including your tenure with NTAC, have earned you this honour.”

Yakub expressed confidence that Mohammed will leverage his vast experience to meet the expectations of President Tinubu and other stakeholders. He concluded the letter with well-wishes for success in the new role and a prayer for continued strength and wisdom.

Amb. Mohammed Mohammed’s appointment follows the departure of the previous NIA DG, Amb. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar. Mohammed will now lead the agency at a crucial time for national intelligence and security.
