DR Congo Army Thwarts Attempted Coup Against President Tshikedi.

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) army has successfully foiled an attempted coup aimed at overthrowing President Felix Tshikedi in the capital city of Kinshasa.
According to Brig Gen Sylavin Ekenge, the spokesperson for the DR Congo army, the coup involved a collaboration of Congolese and foreign fighters but has been decisively quashed, with several suspects already detained.
The thwarting of the coup comes in the wake of a brazen attack on the residence of Vital Kamerhe, a former chief of staff and a close ally of President Tshikedi.
Reports indicate that in the early hours of Sunday morning, a group of approximately 20 armed assailants donning military attire launched an assault on Kamerhe’s house, sparking a fierce exchange of gunfire.
Sources suggest that the attackers may be affiliated with the New Zaire Movement, allegedly linked to the formerly exiled politician Christian Malanga. Tragically, amidst the chaos, two guards and one assailant lost their lives in the skirmish, as confirmed by statements from Kamerhe’s spokesperson and the Japanese ambassador.
President Tshikedi, however, has yet to address the public regarding the unfolding situation. Meanwhile, the Japanese ambassador in Kinshasa has issued a warning advising Japanese nationals to remain indoors and avoid venturing out amidst the uncertainty and heightened tensions gripping the Congolese capital.
