ECOWAS, GUINEA-BISSAU Advance Disability Inclusion.

The ECOWAS Commission, through its Directorate of Humanitarian and Social Affairs, and in close partnership with the Government of Guinea-Bissau, has officially launched Phase II of the Regional Programme for the Provision of Assistive Devices to Children with Disabilities.

According to a Press Statement issued in Abuja by the ECOWAS Commission, the initiative represents a tangible step towards a more inclusive, people-centred regional integration, and is rooted in the 4×4 Strategic Objectives, as well, aligned with ECOWAS Vision 2050,

The Mission was marked by a high-level institutional meeting with the Minister of Women, Family and Social Solidarity, Maria Inácia Có Mendes Sanhá, who reaffirmed the government’s political commitment to disability inclusion.

Also, the ECOWAS delegation underlined the regional organisation’s continued dedication to social justice and systemic change, ensuring that no Child is left behind.

Meanwhile, the programme was preceded by technical consultations and field visits, reinforcing local relevance, ownership, and long-term sustainability.
