ECOWAS Launches Operation ANOUANZÉ 3 To Combat Maritime Threats.

The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS Multinational Maritime Coordination Centre, (MMCC), Zone F has launched Operation ANOUANZÉ 3 in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
According to a statement by the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja today (27/08/25), Operation ANOUANZÉ 3 is part of the implementation of ECOWAS’ integrated maritime security strategy, which aims to promote regional cooperation and strengthen the capacity of member States to combat maritime threats.

The launch took place August 25, 2025, under the leadership of the ECOWAS Regional Security Division, headed by Colonel Dieng, who provided necessary coordination for the operation, meanwhile, the event which runs from 25 to 28 August 2025, also has the support of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, (UNODC).
The launch ceremony was attended by representatives of ECOWAS, and the Chief of Naval Staff of Sierra Leone, Navy Captain LK Jabati.
