ECOWAS President Meets UN Deputy Secretary-General Over Factors Hindering Development of West Africa.

The United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Mrs. Amina Mohammed, and the President of the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States, (ECOWAS), Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, have discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, and the challenges hindering the development of West Africa.

The discussions between Mrs. Amina Mohammed, and Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, focused on terrorism, proliferation of arms, insecurity, peace, security, and stability within the ECOWAS region.

According to a statement in Abuja today (27/08/25) by the ECOWAS Commission, the meeting took place during the visit of Mrs. Amina Mohammed to the Headquarters of the regional organization in Abuja.
