ECOWAS, Saudi Arabia Deepen Partnership To Strengthen Regional Stability.

The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and deepening strategic partnerships.

This follows a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Nigeria, Yousef Mohammed Albalawi, to the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr Omar Alieu Touray, in Abuja.

The engagement highlighted shared priorities on peace, security, economic cooperation and regional stability, and underscored Saudi Arabia’s intention to expand its diplomatic footprint across ECOWAS Member States.

In their remarks, Dr Omar Alieu Touray, and Yousef Mohammed Albalawi, emphasised that sustainable development remains intrinsically linked to peace and security, and re-iterated the importance of coordinated approaches to address emerging challenges, which include misinformation and regional instability.

The ECOWAS Commission also pledged to enhance support to regional development efforts.

The meeting re-inforced the long-standing partnership between ECOWAS and Saudi Arabia, anchored in mutual trust, shared interests and a forward-looking vision for strengthened cooperation.
