Former Angolan President Santos dies at 79

Jose Eduardo dos Santos, former President of the Republic of Angola is dead.
In a statement signed by the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Benin and Niger, the former President of the Republic was reported to have died in the city of Barcelona, Spain,
due to illness.
Born on August 28, 1942, in Luanda, José Eduardo dos Santos was a unique figure of Angolan nationalism with his participation in the fight against colonization, in the conquest of national independence, in the affirmation of Angola in the context of Nations, in the conquest of peace, reconstruction and national reconciliation.
The Angolan Embassy in Abuja will observe a five day national mourning period beginning from 00:00 on 9th July,2022 and a Condolence Register opened on Monday, 11th July, 2022 in honour of the departed nationalist.
