Lufthansa Group Cancels More Flights To Middle East As Tensions Rise.

The German airline Lufthansa has cancelled further flights to the Middle East for security reasons, the company announced in Frankfurt on Monday.

Connections to Israel and Tehran have been suspended for another four days up to and including Monday August 12, it said.

Flights to the Lebanese capital Beirut had already been suspended for this period.

Flights to Amman in Jordan and to Erbil in northern Iraq were initially cancelled up to and including Wednesday, August 7.

Until then, Lufthansa Group airlines will also not be using the airspace over Iraq and Iran.

The cancellations are due to growing tensions between Israel and Iran.

Lufthansa has offered travellers free rebooking. Free cancellations are also possible for bookings made until August 20.

The flight ban applies to all of the Group’s airlines – including cargo and passenger aircraft.

In addition to the core airline, the Lufthansa Group also includes Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings.
