NADECO, USA Calls For President Tinubu’s Resignation Amid Academic Controversy

By Caroline Ameh

The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) USA has issued a plea to President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria to step down from his position, citing concerns over a persistent academic controversy that has cast a shadow on his leadership.

In a statement released on September 25, 2023,and signed by Lloyd Ukwu Esq, Executive Director of the group expressed deep dismay at the international shame brought upon Nigeria, a nation of over 200 million people, due to the ongoing questions raised about Tinubu’s educational journey, particularly his alleged attendance at Chicago State University.

The organization emphasized the detrimental impact this controversy has had on Nigeria’s global reputation, as doubts about the educational credentials of a prominent political figure have garnered unwelcome attention on the international stage.

What further fueled NADECO USA’s call for Tinubu’s resignation were the socio-economic challenges faced by Nigerians, which they attributed to policies implemented under his government. The group pointed out that Nigeria is presently grappling with severe domestic, regional, and international crises, with its economy in turmoil and citizens clamoring for change.

“The value of the naira has plummeted to the point where a dollar is now a stone’s throw away from a thousand naira,” NADECO USA stated, underlining the dire consequences of Tinubu’s unyielding pursuit of his political ambitions. These consequences have not only affected the nation’s economy but have also jeopardized the credibility of institutions like Chicago State University.

NADECO USA passionately implored President Tinubu to resign, firmly believing that his departure from office could potentially save Nigeria from an impending implosion. They asserted that such a bold move could pave the way for forgiveness from the Nigerian people and help restore the tarnished reputation of institutions affected by the controversy.

The organization urged Tinubu to consider the greater good and liberate both himself and the nation from the consequences of his questionable pursuits. NADECO USA stated that such a step would be in the best interest of Nigeria and its people, offering a glimmer of hope amid the turbulent times the nation currently faces.
