Nigeria has congratulated the Republic of Sudan on her seventieth independence anniversary.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, extended the country’s warm congratulations to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan, Mohieldin-Salem Ibrahim, as well as to the Government and people of Sudan, on this occasion of the country’s Independence anniversary.
According to a statement signed by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Mr Kimiebi Ebienfa, the Minister stated that this milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on Sudan’s enduring journey as a sovereign nation, its rich cultural heritage, and the collective aspirations of its people for peace, unity, and prosperity.
Reaffirming Nigeria’s acknowledgement of Sudan’s notable contributions to Africa’s political, intellectual, and cultural development, as well as the resilience of the Sudanese people in confronting complex political, economic, and humanitarian challenges, Ambassador Tugar said Nigeria and Sudan share a long-standing relationship rooted in mutual respect, Pan-African solidarity, and a common commitment to Africa’s advancement.
Nigeria therefore expresses hope that the anniversary will serve as a catalyst for renewed national consensus, reconciliation, institutional strengthening, and ending the war. He reiterated Nigeria’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Sudan in the areas of mutual interest, diplomacy, education, agriculture, trade, capacity building, and people-to-people exchanges, in line with commitments to South-South cooperation and African-led solutions.
