The Federal Republic of Nigeria has congratulated the Republic of Senegal on the occasion of her Independence Anniversary, reaffirming the strong diplomatic ties and shared aspirations between the two West African nations.
In a goodwill message conveyed on Thursday, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extended warm felicitations to his Senegalese counterpart, Mrs. Yassine Fall, Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs.
The message, signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, lauded Senegal’s journey as a sovereign nation, applauding its continued commitment to development, democracy, and regional cooperation.
“As Senegal marks another year of independence, Nigeria celebrates with you and commends the enduring spirit of resilience, unity, and democratic values that define the Senegalese people,” the statement read.
It also emphasized the deep-rooted bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Senegal, highlighting shared historical and cultural bonds, as well as cooperation in areas such as trade, education, and security.
“Nigeria remains committed to strengthening cooperation with Senegal, particularly within the frameworks of ECOWAS and the African Union,” the statement continued. “We applaud Senegal’s contributions to peace, security, and development across the continent and look forward to even greater achievements in the years to come.”
Ambassador Tuggar concluded by reaffirming Nigeria’s unwavering solidarity and the commitment to advancing mutual prosperity between both nations.
Senegal gained independence from France on April 4, 1960, and continues to play a significant role in promoting stability and progress in the region.
