Senior officials from Nigeria and the European Union (EU) will meet in Abuja on Tuesday, July 1, and Wednesday, July 2, 2025, for a pivotal high level dialogue aimed at reinforcing bilateral cooperation and laying the groundwork for an upcoming ministerial meeting.

The strategic talks will be co-chaired by Nigeria’s Ambassador Janet Olisa, Director of the Regions Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Mathieu Briens, Deputy Managing Director for Africa at the European External Action Service.

According to a statement released by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the discussions will span a broad array of critical issues, including peace and security, governance, the humanitarian situation, trade and investment, health and education, migration, digital innovation, and the transition to a green economy.

The meeting underscores the robust and long standing partnership between Nigeria and the EU, which is built on shared values, mutual respect, and a strong commitment to multilateralism and global cooperation.

It is expected that the outcome of the talks will contribute significantly to shaping a renewed strategic agenda between both parties, bolstering efforts toward sustainable development and enhanced regional stability.
