Nigeria’s Technical Aid Corps Empowers Volunteers In Tanzania.

The Director-General of the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (DTAC), Rt. Hon.(Dr.) Yusuf Buba Yakub, highlighted Nigeria’s ability to offer technical assistance to African, Caribbean, and Pacific nations, aligning with President Tinubu’s foreign policy. Buba praised Nigeria’s skilled youth population as a crucial resource for this initiative.

During their visit, the DTAC delegation reviewed the Scheme’s 35-year history, noting its success in training manpower for recipient nations. They met with TAC Scheme Volunteers in Zanzibar and acknowledged the support from the Nigerian High Commission for both the Scheme and its Volunteers.

Buba emphasized Nigeria’s foreign policy pillars of democracy, demography, development, and diaspora. He stressed the Directorate’s commitment to leveraging soft-power diplomacy, citing the country’s talented and energetic youth as a global asset.

The visit aimed to strengthen existing ties and build new relationships in line with the TAC Scheme’s foreign policy goals. Buba highlighted the Scheme’s impact, noting its alumni serving in various global governments, showcasing the continuous demand for technical expertise and support.

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Tanzania, Amb. (Dr.) Hamisu Umar Takalmawa, praised Tanzania’s unity and peaceful coexistence, emphasizing its lessons for Nigeria. He commended Buba’s appointment as DG, foreseeing positive developments for Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs due to Buba’s experience and achievements.

The DTAC delegation applauded stakeholders’ effective roles in the Scheme, recognizing their commitment to both the Volunteers and their service communities. Led by Mr. Felix Adegoke Popoola, TAC Scheme Volunteers expressed gratitude for the Nigerian High Commissioner’s support and highlighted the camaraderie within their service communities.

Overall, the interactions during the visit highlighted the TAC Scheme’s successful utilization as a strategic tool for fostering Nigeria’s global engagements in technical assistance and diplomatic relations.
