The Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has joined millions of Nigerians and members of the international community in mourning the passing of Nigeria’s immediate past President, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), who died at the age of 82.

In a condolence message personally signed and made public late Sunday, he described the late President Buhari as a patriot who dedicated his entire life to the service of Nigeria as a soldier, statesman, nationalist, and mentor to many.

Buba noted that Buhari’s legacy would continue to resonate in the hearts and minds of generations of Nigerians, both those who knew him and those who would come to read about his incorruptibility and altruistic leadership.

“On behalf of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) and its management, I convey our heartfelt condolences to the family, government, and good people of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari,” the statement read.

“While we mourn this great soldier, nationalist and leader, we remember his dedication to democracy, regional stability, and the unity of Nigeria, as well as his unwavering commitment to the anti-corruption crusade, which endeared him to many Nigerians.”

The NTAC boss also prayed for the repose of the soul of one of Nigeria’s most iconic political figures, saying:
“May Allah grant him Aljana Firdausi and grant his family and all Nigerians the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

Born in Daura, Katsina State, in 1942, Buhari was a distinguished military officer and political leader who served as Nigeria’s Head of State on two occasions—first as a military ruler from 1983 to 1985, and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023.

He also held various positions of national importance, including Federal Commissioner of Petroleum, Military Governor of the former Northeastern State, and Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) under the Abacha regime.

President Buhari will be remembered more for the integrity-driven principles he championed in leadership than for monuments or accolades. His life, many believe, was marked by discipline, selflessness, and a steadfast commitment to the Nigerian project.
