NTAC DG Hails President Tinubu Over Landmark Technical Cooperation Pact with Saint Lucia.

The Director-General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the successful signing of a groundbreaking Technical Manpower Assistance Agreement with the government of Saint Lucia.
This was Signed by Mr. Ojo Adetoun Olubunmi, anipr, Head, Information & Public Relations Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC)in Abuja on Thursday.
Describing the development as a major diplomatic milestone, the NTAC DG said the agreement reflects President Tinubu’s strategic vision to deepen Nigeria’s technical diplomacy across the Caribbean through sustained engagement with the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
The historic agreement was signed on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, in Castries, the capital of Saint Lucia, between Rt. Hon. Yakub and the Acting Permanent Secretary of Saint Lucia’s Ministry of External Affairs, International Trade, Civil Aviation, and Diaspora Affairs, Mrs. Janelle Modeste-Stephen.
Under the agreement, Nigerian professionals—including teachers, medical practitioners, agricultural experts, and other specialists—will be deployed to Saint Lucia for a two-year volunteer period to contribute to national development efforts while fostering South-South cooperation.
Key Features of the Agreement
Deployment of Nigerian Experts: Skilled professionals from Nigeria will serve in various sectors in Saint Lucia for two years.
Bilateral Support Structure: The Nigerian government will provide allowances and logistics for the deployed volunteers, while Saint Lucia will offer accommodation and necessary local support.
Support for Presidential Vision: The initiative is in line with President Tinubu’s directive to enhance regional ties and position Nigeria as a global player in technical cooperation.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Rt. Hon. Yakub praised the President’s leadership and unwavering commitment to promoting South-South collaboration. He said:
“This landmark agreement is a testament to President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to South-South cooperation and Nigeria’s role as a leader in Technical Diplomacy. We look forward to our volunteers making a lasting impact in Saint Lucia and strengthening the bonds between our nations.”
The NTAC DG emphasized that the partnership not only deepens Nigeria’s relationship with Caribbean nations but also reconnects Africa with its diaspora through developmental cooperation and shared expertise.
The agreement is expected to open the door for further bilateral and multilateral engagements, positioning Nigeria as a vital contributor to human capital development in the Caribbean region.
