US-Based Advocates Meet Congressman On Legitimacy Of Tinubu As President Of Nigeria.

A coalition of US-based Good Governance advocates, led by Mr. Chimezie Bekee and Professor Eddie Oparaoji, gathered for a crucial meeting with Congressman Danny Davis of Chicago, Illinois, to express their concerns regarding the legitimacy of Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu.

Representatives from the Nigerian-American Coalition for Justice and Democracy (NACJD), pro-democracy groups, the Obedient Movement, and other concerned Nigerians joined in this effort to question the presidency of Bola Tinubu. The group alleged that President Tinubu had perjured himself, submitted a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), failed to secure the necessary votes during the election, and lacked the essential qualifications for the presidency.

In a statement released by the coalition, they outlined their grievances and sought Congressman Davis’ support in challenging the legitimacy of President Tinubu. They also requested an investigation into these allegations.

The meeting began with Congressman Davis extending a warm welcome to the Nigerian delegation, acknowledging the seriousness of the concerns raised. He emphasized his commitment to upholding democratic principles and ensuring transparency in Nigeria’s electoral process.

The Nigerian Delegation presented a compelling case, providing documents and evidence to substantiate their claims against President Tinubu. They argued that these allegations cast doubt on the credibility of the Nigerian government and raised questions about the legitimacy of Tinubu’s presidency.

Congressman Davis listened attentively and assured the delegation that he would take their concerns seriously. He recognized the paramount importance of free and fair elections in any democracy and pledged to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter.

Furthermore, Congressman Davis committed to engaging with relevant authorities in both the United States and Nigeria to gather additional information and evidence pertaining to the case, with the intent of making an informed decision. He agreed to maintain open communication with the Nigerian Delegation and provide updates on the progress of his investigation.

Responding to inquiries, Professor Eddie Oparaoji, Chairman of the NACJD, stated, “We are deeply committed to preventing this blatant capture of the state from standing, given its potential long-term consequences for Nigeria and Africa. This includes the rule of law, accountability, human development, socio-economic competitiveness, education, healthcare, and other sectors crucial to the quality of life for our people.”

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with Congressman Danny Davis displaying a genuine commitment to addressing the concerns raised by the Nigerian Delegation. The delegation expressed their appreciation for his willingness to investigate the matter and pledged their full cooperation in providing any necessary information.

As the Nigerian Delegation left the meeting for the Chicago State University Campus, they remained hopeful that their concerns about the legitimacy of President Bola Tinubu’s tenure would receive the attention and scrutiny they deserved in the pursuit of genuine democracy and good governance in Nigeria.
