US Midterm Elections Update- Democrats Defied History.

By Our Reporter.

It’s the Thursday after a midterm election and we still don’t know which party will control the House or the Senate. And we might not for days, or even weeks, pending recounts and legal challenges in very close races.

However, Republicans have inched closer to gaining control of the U.S. House of Representatives, having secured 209 of the 218 seats they need to reach a majority, with 40 House races still uncalled. GOP candidates flipped at least 15 formerly Democratic seats, including defeating New York Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, the Democrat’s chief campaign chair. But Democrats have also flipped six Republican-held seats, securing 186 House seats so far, and lead in at least 12 uncalled races out of California.

Control over the House could come down to a handful of razor-thin races, such as Colorado’s Third congressional district, where far-right Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert faced a surprisingly strong challenge from Democrat Adam Frisch. He currently trails Boebert by just 433 votes with over 95% of precincts reporting. The race is almost certainly headed towards a recount, as could other crucial races in the coming days.
