Mr Victor Ademola Adanri has just been elected as the Chairman of Ekiti State University (EKSU) Alumni Association, USA, Chapter. Below is his acceptance speech.

Distinguished members of the Ekiti State University Alumni Association USA Chapter, esteemed alumni, friends, and well-wishers. It is with deep gratitude and a profound sense of responsibility that I stand before you today as the newly elected Chairman of our USA Branch.

First and foremost, I offer my heartfelt thanks to God almighty and to each of you—for placing your trust in me, supporting my candidacy, and joining me in this important journey. Your confidence is not taken lightly, and I pledge to serve you—and our alma mater—with unwavering dedication.

I also want to honor the electoral committee headed by Dr. Ademola Daramola and Mascot Ijamakinwa, Bunmi Adebayo, Lucy Igbinoba, and Mopelola Fatuga, and members of the other committees who midwifed this transition to what has transformed to the freest & fairest election on the face of the earth in the most recent times.

However, before speaking of the future, I must pause to honor the contributions of the founder and the immediate past chairman of the USA chapter, Mr Adeolu Tinubu. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to a man whose vision, leadership, and selfless service have brought us to this moment. Mr. Tinubu is more than just a pioneer; he is the architect of this chapter’s foundation. His foresight, passion, and relentless commitment transformed a dream into a thriving reality. He is a bridge-builder, a tireless advocate for unity, and a shining example of what true alumni leadership should be.
Under his stewardship, this chapter did not merely exist—it flourished. He brought structure where there was none, created opportunities where there were gaps, and inspired all of us with his dedication. His leadership has been marked by wisdom, humility, and excellence. Truly, he is a pathfinder, a trailblazer, and a torchbearer whose legacy will forever be etched in the history of this association.
On behalf of every member of this USA Branch, I say: Thank you, Mr. Adeolu Tinubu. You have laid a solid foundation upon which we will continue to build. We celebrate you, we honor you, and we promise to carry forward the light you have kindled.

As Chairman of the USA Branch, I believe our mission is threefold:

  1. Strengthen the USA Chapter as a dynamic, connected community—one that enriches each member personally, professionally, and socially.
  2. Expand our capacity for giving back through fundraising, mentorship, and collaborative projects that serve our chapters back home in Ado-Ekiti and support EKSU’s development.
  3. Foster meaningful partnerships—within our local communities, with universities, and with alumni across the globe to elevate EKSU’s reach, reputation, and legacy.
    • Launch Alumni Mentorship Circles: Connect young EKSU graduates and students in the U.S. with seasoned professionals—facilitating coaching, networking, and career development.
    • Host Educational, Cultural, Networking, and Fundraising Events: From cultural festivals celebrating our heritage to annual reunions and fundraising drives that support international scholarships and infrastructure projects.
    • Build Stronger Alumni-University Ties: Maintain close collaboration with both the Global Alumni Executive Council and align our chapter’s efforts with institutional goals like endowments, exchange programs, and alumni awards.

I stand ready to lead with transparency, urgency, and integrity—drawing on our shared values of unity, excellence, and service. I encourage all of you to actively participate—through ideas, time, resources, and connections—so we can collectively cultivate a thriving alumni community.

I want to assure you all that this is the beginning of the glorious era of our association. Let us all be involved. I call on us all to bury our differences and pursue unity and friendship, the kind that we started way back decades ago. This will be an open and accessible administration for all and the benefit of all.

In closing, thank you once again for this honor. Together, let’s build a vibrant chapter that reflects the excellence of our alma mater, empowers each other, and makes a meaningful difference back home. Here’s to a future defined by impactful leadership, generous support, and enduring pride in being EKSU alumni.

Thank you—and may our journey begin.
