ECOWAS, EU Express Delight Over Corporation, Achievements In Priority Areas.

The Vice President of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, Commission, Mrs. Damtien Tchintchibidja, has expressed ECOWAS’ gratitude for the ongoing cooperation between the EU and ECOWAS, especially the new cooperation package under the Neighbourhood Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI) covering priority areas including trade, migration, energy, agriculture, peace, security and governance, digital economy and capacity building.

The ECOWAS Vice President stated this when the Head of the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Ambassador Gautier Mignot, paid a courtesy visit to her at the Commission in Abuja.

The ECOWAS Vice President stressed the need for regular coordination meeting between the Commission and the EU, the involvement of ECOWAS in decision making, and monitoring activities for EU funded projects implemented by the Commission to ensure more effective and efficient delivery.

According to a statement by the Commission made available to Journalists on Friday, Mrs. Tchintchibidja, and the EU delegation discussed the forthcoming ECOWAS 50TH Anniversary celebration, and the launch of new projects under ECOWAS and the EU co-operation.

Ambassador Gautier MIGNOT whose visit, according to the statement, was to officially introduce himself to the Vice President of the ECOWAS Commission, was accompanied by the Deputy Ambassador of the EU to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mr. Zissimos Vergos, and the Acting Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mr. Ruben Alba Aguilera.
