Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ablakwa Confers With Leadership of Ghana’s Missions In The Middle East.

In consonance with the unwavering commitment for the protection and welfare of Ghanaians abroad, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) on Tuesday, 3rd March, 2026 had a virtual interaction with the Heads of Mission of Ghana’s diplomatic Missions in the Middle East over the evolving situation in the region.

The Honourable Minister highlighted the relevance of diplomatic Missions and consular assistance extended to nationals in times of crises and also used the opportunity to laud the staff of the Embassies for the professionalism demonstrated so far.

The discussions focused on the emergency preparedness, communication with Ghanaian nationals in the region and the need to adhere to directives issued by host authorities to ensure safety and security.

Following the US/Israeli attacks on Iran and the retaliatory strikes from Iran on American Bases in the Gulf countries, Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign affairs issued Travel Advisory to Ghanaians in the affected areas, urging to be alert and avoid non-essential travels to the region.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian authorities revealed that it had successfully evacuated its Embassy staff from Iran, as tensions escalated. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, disclosed via an X post that the evacuation proceeded without any complications.

“I am delighted to announce that we have conducted a successful evacuation of all our embassy staff in Iran,” the minister stated.

The Minister further assured the public of the safety of Ghanaian officials.

“The Ghanaian diplomats are safe and in high spirits. The safety, welfare, and protection of Ghanaians remains our utmost priority in these tempestuous times,” he said in his X post.
