ECOWAS Explores Digital Transformation To Strengthen Regional Integration.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has taken a bold step towards shaping the future of the region and convened high-level a thematic dialogue on digital transformation.

According to a statement on Sunday by the ECOWAS Commission, the high-level meeting, held in Lagos State on January 20, 2026, brought together esteemed policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to explore the vast potential of digital technologies in driving peace, security, economic growth, and regional integration.

The dialogue centered on harnessing the power of digital innovations, including artificial intelligence, communication systems and social media to bolster regional stability and unlock economic opportunities.

Meanwhile, participants engaged in critical discussions on aligning existing ECOWAS frameworks with the realities of the digital age, weighing both the benefits and challenges posed by emerging technologies.

This initiative underscores ECOWAS’ commitment to leveraging digital transformation to drive progress in West Africa.
