ECOWAS Kicks Off Construction Of Twin Boarder Post To Enhance Free Movement, Trade Efficiency.

The Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission, has led a high-level delegation from Liberia and Sierra Leone to lay the symbolic foundation stone, and officially hand over the site for the construction of a Twin Border Post, (TBP).

According to a statement by the ECOWAS Commission, the twin Border Post is between Jendema (Sierra Leone), and Bo Waterside (Liberia).

The site which was handed over to the company in charge of the work is expected to take twenty-four months to complete.

The development of this border post is part of ECOWAS’ Vision 2050, which emphasises the free movement of people and goods, as well as, the promotion of economic integration and the expansion of regional trade.

Entirely funded by the ECOWAS Commission, the Twin Border Post is a key element of the regional transport facilitation program aimed to improve trade efficiency, reduce transit times, and promote the smooth movement of goods and travelers.

The Commission further stated that the construction of the Jendema–Bo Waterside TFB will help strengthen the integration of the border communities of Liberia and Sierra Leone, while improving regional connectivity along the Praia–Dakar–Abidjan corridor.
