ECOWAS Launches Regional Workshop To Promote Human Security In West Africa.

The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, has officially launched a regional workshop in Abuja, Nigeria, aimed at promoting human security in West Africa.
In a statement by the ECOWAS Commission Abuja, today, the workshop is organized by the ECOWAS Early Warning Directorate, (EWD), and the ECOWAS Regional Center for Surveillance and Disease Control,(RCSDC), to promote regional human security through the co-ordination of health measures.

The workshop which brings together health analysts from National Early Warning Centers across the region, aims to improve the sharing and communication of epidemiological data to enhance epidemic surveillance through national, and regional early warning systems.
It also aimed to equip participants with practical skills for the early detection of critical public health events and risks to human security, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices related to early warning systems, address disease surveillance, health system strengthening, and related challenges, potential solutions within the ECOWAS context, and, review and improve the data sources used for health indicators within the ECOWAS Early Warning and Response Network (ECOWARN).
