FG Moves to Evacuate Nigerians from Israel, Iran as Tensions Escalate.

The Nigeria government has announced plans to evacuate stranded Nigerian citizens from Israel and Iran amid rising tensions and military hostilities between the two nations.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, and made available to journalists in Abuja.

According to the ministry, arrangements are currently being finalized for the emergency evacuation of Nigerian nationals caught in the escalating crisis.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that following the escalation of the crisis between the State of Israel and Islamic Republic of Iran, the Federal Government is finalizing arrangements for the emergency evacuation of stranded Nigerians in both countries,” the statement read.

Affected Nigerians have been strongly advised to observe all relevant security protocols and immediately contact the nearest Nigerian Embassy or Mission for registration and further instructions.

The ministry urged citizens to comply strictly with local security guidelines and register their presence with Nigerian diplomatic missions in Tel Aviv and Tehran, respectively.

The government further assured that it is working closely with international partners and relevant authorities to ensure the safety and timely evacuation of its citizens.

“The Ministry commends the efforts put in place by our Missions in Tel Aviv, Israel and Tehran, Iran for their dedication and commitment to reaching out to the Nigerian community in these difficult times,” the statement continued.

“We wish to assure the general public that the Federal Government of Nigeria remains committed to the safety and welfare of all its citizens, both at home and abroad, and is working in close coordination with relevant international partners and local authorities to ensure the timely and secure evacuation of Nigerians in affected areas.”

In addition to the evacuation plans, the Nigerian government renewed its call for peace between the warring nations. It urged both Israel and Iran to pursue diplomatic dialogue, respect international humanitarian law, and prioritize the protection of civilians.

“In the same vein, the Government of Nigeria reiterates its call for the immediate cessation of hostilities and urges all parties involved to embrace dialogue, respect international humanitarian law and prioritize the protection of civilians,” the statement said.

“Nigeria stands firm in its support for the peaceful resolution of conflicts and reaffirms its longstanding commitment to regional and global peace and stability.”

The ministry concluded by assuring the public that further updates on evacuation efforts would be communicated in due course.
