Ghana Commended For Commitment To Democracy.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Greece, H.E. Mr. Nikos Dendias as part of his African tour paid a courtesy call and held bilateral discussions with the Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon.Shirly Ayorkor Botchwey on Thursday, 12th January, 2023.
Mr. Nikos Dendias commended Ghana for its commitment to democracy, respect for human rights, promotion of peace and also upholding the principles of international law as a member of the United Nations Security Council. He also expressed his appreciation to Ghana for supporting Greece during its election as a non-permanent member of the UNSC. Nikos Dendias expressed the readiness of Greek Investors to promote Greek businesses in Ghana through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
On her part, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey recalled the Greek Foreign Minister’s first visit to Ghana and its importance because discussions were centered around multilateral and bilateral issues which helped to improve on the already existing relations between the two countries.She applauded the Government of Greece for supporting Ghana with 150 thousand vaccines at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. On maritime issues, Hon. Ayokor Botchwey expressed Ghana’s interest in collaborating with Greece to fight against maritime piracy.
She further encouraged Greek investors to explore the business opportunities in Ghana.
