Ghanaian President, Mahama Sacks Chief Executives MMDAs.

The new DC government of President John Mahama has announced the revocation of the appointments of Chief Executives for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with immediate effect.
According to a letter from the Office of The President on Wednesday, 8th January, 2025 and signed by Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, “In accordance with the powers vested on H.E John Mahama under the provision of the Local Governance Act, 2016(Act 936) as amended by the Local Governance (Amended) Act, 2017,(Act 940), the following appointments have been revoked today: Chief Executives of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies”.
The letter further directed the Coordinating Directors of the various MMDAs to assume the role of Acting Chief Executives in the interim until new substantive appointments are made.
President John Mahama was sworn in as President of Ghana in a colourful ceremony at the Black Stars Square Accra, yesterday for the second time, after an eight years break, (2016-2024).
