President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday hosted Senegal’s President, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye, in Abuja as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen regional ties and advance economic cooperation in West Africa.

Welcoming the Senegalese leader on behalf of President Tinubu was Nigeria’s Minister for Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, who described the visit as a “significant display of diplomatic courtesy and regional solidarity.”

President Faye’s visit comes on the sidelines of the West Africa Economic Summit 2025, a major regional gathering focused on deepening economic integration, promoting development, and enhancing political cooperation among West African nations. The summit has brought together key regional leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to chart a new course for economic growth and stability in the sub-region.

The meeting is expected to produce a strategic roadmap for innovation-driven growth, regional trade, and improved living standards across West African states.

Officials say both President Tinubu and President Faye are committed to building a united regional front capable of addressing shared challenges, including youth unemployment, insecurity, and infrastructure deficits.

The summit continues through the weekend with high-level sessions and bilateral meetings.
