Sri Lanka, UAE Establish Joint Business Council.

Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates have signed an agreement to establish the UAE-Sri Lanka Joint Business Council. This was announced at the Sri Lanka Ministry of Foreign Affairs official X-handle on Tuesday morning.said.
The MoU on the establishment of UAE-Sri Lanka Joint Business Council was exchanged in the presence of Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath and Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE Abdullah Bin Zayed.
Herath and Bin Zayed also discussed a range of matters of mutual interest, the Ministry said.
Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have enjoyed strong diplomatic and economic ties since establishing relations in 1979.
The UAE is Sri Lanka’s sixth-largest export market, with bilateral trade growing in areas like tea, clothing, seafood, and gemstones. The UAE has pledged to increase investments in Sri Lanka and share technical expertise.
The two countries have discussed initiatives to strengthen cultural cooperation and employment prospects for Sri Lankan workers in the UAE, with over 150,000 Sri Lankans currently working in the UAE.
