Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS Presents Letters of Credence.

The Ambassador of Sweden to Nigeria and ECOWAS, H.E Anna Westerholm presented her Letters of Credence to H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, outgoing President of the ECOWAS Commission. The Swedish Embassy in Abuja officially represents Sweden in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and ECOWAS.
According to Touray, a valuable discussion on strengthening cooperation for peace, democracy, and sustainable development in West Africa held during the brief ceremony.

Before her appointment to Nigeria, Westerholm had a substantial career in Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs. She served as Ambassador for the Eastern Partnership, dealing with Sweden’s relations with countries in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. She had previously been Deputy Head of a department dealing with multilateral development cooperation at the Swedish Foreign Ministry.
Westerholm studied at Uppsala University, with an academic background including social sciences, development studies and Eastern European affairs. She also studied the Russian language in Russia, which complemented her subsequent diplomatic work in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus.
