Britain’s foreign ministry said late Tuesday that it is sending 700 British troops to Cyprus as it prepares “contingency plans” for its citizens in Lebanon as Israel’s attacks on the country intensify. In a statement, it urged British nationals to leave Lebanon ‘immediately.’ Lebanon’s health ministry reported that at least 569 people had been killed in two consecutive days of Israeli strikes across the country.
