Ukrainian City Plunged Into Darkness Following Russian Drone Assault.

By Caroline Ameh

Russia has unleashed drone strikes on Ukraine resulting in a widespread power outage in the key industrial city of Kryvyi Rih, the birthplace of President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Ukrainian energy company Ukrenerho reported severe damage to a crucial plant, leaving tens of thousands of households and numerous businesses in the south-eastern city without electricity.

Governor Serhij Lysak disclosed that the power disruption extended to two mining shafts, trapping around 100 workers underground. Rescue operations are currently underway to bring them to the surface safely.

Authorities are actively working on restoring power to the affected areas, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

The drone attack, predominantly targeting the southern and central regions, has exacerbated the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Ukrenerho confirmed that Ukrainian air defense successfully thwarted 11 out of 24 Russian drones involved in the assault.

This latest event adds to the already complex and protracted two-year-long conflict, intensifying tensions between Ukraine and Russia and raising concerns about the stability of the region.
