Do Diplomats Abuse Diplomatic Immunity ?

In leaked documents in 2017, a journalist exposed the worst behaved foreign diplomats in Canada. The documents detail the unpunished crimes of diplomats who never fear prosecution in Canadian courts. The Crimes range from minor offenses to major offenses.

Diplomats working abroad enjoy diplomatic immunity which protects them against prosecution for the entire period in which they hold their diplomatic post. However Diplomatic immunity is not carte blanche for misconduct as in case of misconduct, diplomats risks to have their immunity to waived by their country. It also affects the diplomats career and future appointments. Diplomatic immunity: a two-way street as countries tends to treat the diplomats they receive the way their diplomats are this country. In General, Crimes or Illegalities committed by Diplomats are rare, minor and involve very tiny minority of diplomats in each country

The topics covering diplomatic immunities and privileges in relation to Vienna Convention of Diplomatic Relations and international law are of significant interest to diplomatic and international law experts.
