All is now set for the celebration of the 6th Anniversary of Diplomatic Digest Magazine. The highlight of this year’s anniversary celebration will be a thought-provoking lecture titled, “Chinese Diplomatic Tool and Redefinition of Global Governance System.” The lecture is expected to attract significant attention from scholars, diplomats, foreign policy experts, development practitioners, and members of the academic community because of its relevance to contemporary global political and economic realities. As nations continue to navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing world order, discussions around China’s rising global influence and its diplomatic engagements have become increasingly important in international discourse.

The lecture will be delivered by Professor Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, a renowned scholar and respected authority on China-Africa relations and contemporary diplomacy. Professor Ibrahim currently serves as the Provost of the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria and is also the Head of Contemporary China-Africa Research in Nigeria. Widely acknowledged for his extensive research and intellectual contributions in the field of international relations, Professor Ibrahim is expected to provide deep and insightful perspectives on how China’s diplomatic strategies are reshaping the structures and mechanisms of global governance.

Like in previous years, the event comes with a Dinner, and Awards ceremony designed to bring together some of the most distinguished personalities in Nigeria’s diplomatic, political, academic, and business communities as well as deserving global citizens.

Over the years, Diplomatic Digest Magazine has steadily established itself as a respected platform dedicated to the promotion of diplomacy, international cooperation, policy engagement, and global conversations that shape the future of nations. Since its inception six years ago, the publication has consistently provided insightful analyses and in-depth reports on diplomatic affairs, foreign policy, regional integration, and strategic partnerships involving Nigeria and the international community.

The forthcoming anniversary celebration is therefore not only a commemoration of the magazine’s achievements and growth, but also an opportunity to reflect on the evolving dynamics of global diplomacy and governance.

Drawing from the historical, political, and economic relationships between Nigeria, Africa, and China, Professor Ibrahim is anticipated to examine the evolving nature of Chinese diplomacy and its growing influence in global institutions and multilateral engagements. His lecture is expected to explore issues such as economic partnerships, strategic investments, infrastructure development, international trade relations, soft power diplomacy, and the broader implications of China’s expanding role on the global stage. Participants at the event can therefore look forward to a stimulating intellectual engagement that will enrich understanding and encourage informed conversations about the future of international cooperation and governance.

Expected at the event is Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, as the Special Guest of Honour. Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu is widely respected for her contributions to diplomacy, public service, and national development. Her participation in the anniversary celebration further underscores the importance of the event within Nigeria’s diplomatic and policy landscape.

The 6th Anniversary Lecture, Dinner, and Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 30th July 2026, at the prestigious Abuja Continental Hotel, under the distinguished Chairmanship of Ambassador Abdulfatah Yahya Seriki Gambari, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kursi Investment Limited, Abuja. The programme is billed to commence at 4:00 pm and will feature a carefully curated blend of intellectual discourse, elegant dining, networking opportunities, and recognition of outstanding achievements in diplomacy and international cooperation.

Guests attending the event can expect an atmosphere of sophistication and excellence, befitting a gathering of distinguished diplomats, government officials, members of the business community, academics, media practitioners, and international stakeholders.

The anniversary celebration is designed not only to commemorate the magazine’s six-year journey, but also to strengthen relationships and encourage collaboration among individuals and institutions committed to promoting peace, development, and global understanding.

One of the major attractions of the evening will be the Awards segment, where deserving individuals and organisations will be recognised for their exceptional contributions to diplomacy, leadership, international cooperation, policy advancement, and societal development. The awards are expected to honour personalities who have distinguished themselves through service, professionalism, innovation, and commitment to fostering stronger bilateral and multilateral relationships.
The recognition of outstanding contributions during the ceremony reflects Diplomatic Digest Magazine’s enduring commitment to celebrating excellence and encouraging impactful leadership across various sectors.

Beyond the lecture and awards, the event will provide an invaluable networking platform for participants from diverse professional backgrounds. Diplomats, policymakers, academics, entrepreneurs, development experts, and members of civil society will have the opportunity to interact, exchange ideas, and explore avenues for future collaboration. In an era where international partnerships and cross-border cooperation have become increasingly essential, such engagements are expected to foster mutual understanding and create opportunities for strategic alliances.

The anniversary celebration also reflects the growing importance of media institutions in shaping public discourse on international affairs. Through its consistent reporting and analytical coverage of diplomatic activities, Diplomatic Digest Magazine has contributed significantly to promoting awareness and understanding of global issues among Nigerians and the wider African audience. The magazine’s dedication to objective journalism, policy engagement, and intellectual discourse has earned it recognition as a credible voice within diplomatic and international relations circles.

As the world continues to experience major shifts in political and economic power structures, discussions surrounding the future of global governance remain highly significant. The choice of this year’s lecture topic demonstrates Diplomatic Digest Magazine’s awareness of contemporary global realities and its commitment to facilitating informed conversations on issues that influence international peace, security, trade, and development.

China’s growing engagement with Africa, particularly Nigeria, has generated extensive debates and scholarly interest in recent years. From infrastructure financing and technological investments to trade partnerships and educational exchanges, China’s presence on the African continent has become increasingly visible and influential. By focusing on the diplomatic tools employed by China and their implications for global governance systems, the lecture aims to deepen understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with these evolving international dynamics.

The event is therefore expected to attract not only members of the Diplomatic Corps and government officials, but also students, researchers, journalists, and professionals interested in international relations, foreign policy, economics, and development studies. It promises to be an intellectually rewarding experience capable of stimulating critical reflections on the future direction of global diplomacy and governance.

The anniversary celebration stands as a testament to the publication’s resilience, vision, and commitment to excellence in the field of impactful journalism. The event represents not only a milestone achievement for the magazine, but also a reaffirmation of its dedication to fostering dialogue, promoting international understanding, and contributing meaningfully to conversations that shape the future of global relations.
