Anne Sophe Ave, the French Ambassador to Ghana has been compelled to lock her Twitter account after some backlash over her installation as a developmental queen of Osu .

The Ambassador came under attack from some Twitter users who condemned the ceremony as neo-colonialism tendencies. The Tweet which triggered reaction from the Ambassador reads “Ghana and mediocrity, how can you enstool someone who enslaved you. No wonder our current inflation is 31.7”.

Anne Sophe Ave in her response debunked the allegations and wondered why she would be blamed for slavery, something that occurred more than 300 years ago. While condemning slavery as a crime, she also put part of the blame on Africans who sold slaves to Europeans.

Her tweet reads “Err….I never slaved anyone. You mistake me with people who lived 300 years ago. I am not that old. History matters and we must always remember it. Slavery is a crime. People sold slaves from their communities and they were not Europeans. If you want to blame, blame all”.

The influx of reactions and counter reactions in support and against her tweet must have necessitated her restricting her Twitter handle to only her loved followers who can see and engage her with tweets.
