Museveni Appoints UN Ambassador As Ex-Officio Member of Cabinet.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Ambassador Adonia Ayebare, Uganada’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations as an ex-officio member of the cabinent.

Ayebare was sworn-in by the Vice President of Uganada, Her Excellency Jessica Alupo on Tuesday.

Born on October 18, 1966, in Uganda, Ayebare holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Makerere University. He also has two Master’s degrees, one from Long Island University and another from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Additionally, he has two Doctoral degrees from Indiana University and Rutgers University, and a Certificate in International Security from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

Ayebare has been serving as Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations since March 2017.

Before his current role, he was the Senior Adviser on Peace and Security at the African Union’s Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations in New York City.

Ayebare has extensive experience in conflict prevention and mediation, having worked with mediation teams in Burundi, Somalia, and Sudan. He also served as Uganda’s Ambassador and Head of Mission to Rwanda and Burundi from 2002-2005.
